RSL Rules (short Version)

EDIT 23.1.2008: For the 2008 season please read our new rules after we have implied the 66Mod in our championship.

Type of Race
With RSL there are two types of races: "Grand Prix" (GP) and "Race of Champions" (ROC). The type of the race is always stated in the race announcement. The only difference between types is start mode. (see below)

Server
IP: 195.225.196.220
Igor chatroom: 'rsl'
PW (if required) will be posted here and will be announced in chatroom.

Qualifying
NORMAL: 20 Minutes. Join anytime you want, but do not enter car before remaining session length = 25:00 (20 Minutes usable Quali session length + 5 Minutes Warmup)
End of qualifying will be announced by race director (RD) chatting: "END OF SESSION".

SINGLE*: *Used on very rare occasions only, e.g. Monaco.
Each driver has exactly 3 laps on track, and only the last 2 are timed. This type of qualifying is completely controlled by the RD using the ingame chat.
In the beginning all drivers have joined the server, but are waiting outside their cars.
RD chat: "xx into the cockpit" (xx enters his car, but does not leave the pits.)
RD chat: "xx go" (xx enters the track for his warmup lap)
RD chat: "first timelap" (next lap will be first timed lap)
RD chat: "second timelap" (next lap will be second timed lap)
RD chat: "xx out please" (after having finished his current - third, and second timed - lap, xx must leave the track immediately, and should leave the car.
Please note: Driver yy, who is following xx, will get his directives ("yy into the cockpit", "yy go", ...), before xx has finished his last lap. Usually he will be advised to enter the track when xx has just entered his second timed lap.

Warmup
5 Minutes
Free driving or time to rest; no time improvements allowed

Race: Start modes
Start mode depends on type of race.
GP: Standing start.
ROC: Rolling start (Pacelap). No overtaking during pacelap. Polesitter should go steadily at about 100 km/h until last corner before S/F. No speed limit after passing that point, but also no deceleration. Polesitter must chat "GOGOGO" when crossing S/F line. That instant, pacelap has ended: Free racing from then on for everyone.

Race: Shift-R Usage
1. One Shift-R (Start-Shift-R) allowed during first lap for any reason. Usage requires zero length pit stop (stop+go penalty)
2. One Shift-R (Track-Shift-R) allowed during race on track, without penalty, in order to restore a crashed car only.
Usage of Track-Shift-R in order to recover from any engine problem is NOT allowed(!).
3. Any number of Shift-R (Pit-Shift-R) allowed in the pits, without penalty, for any reason (including engine failure or lack of fuel)
Pitstops will be supported by our "Save Pitstop Patch" that allows You to shiftR and stay i n the pits. You will leave the pits on the normal exit to get back into race traffic.

Chassis
You may choose any chassis you want, but you will have to stick to it throughout the whole season. This of course applies to long-term RSL racers only (say, 3+ races).

This is all you need to know about the rules for racing and having fun with RSL.
For a complete rule reference, including a cross-reference between mods etc., see ROC Rules and GP Rules. Some sections in there even are written in English...

RE: RSL Rules (short Version)
Danke Uwe!

RE: RSL Rules (short Version)
Stimmt,
ich meine damit natürlich, dass die Zeit nicht zählt, auch wenn sie ggf. angezeigt würde (weil der Fahrer zufällig hinter der S/F Line in den Boxen steht). Habs geändert.
thx, CU
