Dear RSL GPL drivers,
our first race in 2008 will be our first race in the new
and fantastic 66Mod for GPL.
We will have new experiences with the physics and that needs
some concentration on a few but important issues.

It seems to be a significant higher grip, compared to the 67cars
in low speeds. This enables the drivers to stay on the brakes
much later and longer into the corners.
The brake-balances appear to be better with a bit more front related ratio.
The increased and more authentic slipstream effects will have influence not only on Your topspeeds on long straights. Be aware of the braking manouvres after You had a tow !!! Set Your breakpoints much earlier if You are in a slipstream, otherwise You will hit the car in front of You!
There is no "air-resistance" to slow You down in the vacuum behind
the car You follow. Be aware of surprises on the brakes behind Your
opponents !!! Watch T3 after the long straight before the Motodrom.

The race will be started with maximum engine capacities of 2.7 litres
as it is called by our RSL 66MOD rules the " Division II ".
Drivers choose a "works team" for the whole season and select the car as the actual race is announced.

The RSL Hockenheim Grand Prix will be over 35 laps.
The starting procedure is GRAND PRIX wise (standing start) !

Qualification is on Wednesday at 20:30 CET. The drivers have 25 min to set their lap times and 10 min for a warm-up with the race-setup ( no lap time-improvements during the warm-up allowed !).

Start of the race : 21:05 CET (PW is available in the RSL Forum)

Please remember the lenght of the race and dont push too much in the first corners. You need max. concentration in "Nordkurve"(T1) and Ostkurve (T2).
66Mod racing will force You to a clever strategie. We don't have
"hotlap-races".

Nevertheless, in case of trouble, You have a "start-shiftR" that should bring You back to
the race. It is free for any reason in the first race lap.
But this "joker" should not decrease the safty while we are starting
and drivers who use the start shift_R must do a "Stop-And-Go" at their pitboard.
Why at the pitboard ? Because entering and leaving the
pits should also be controled and safe.
If someone thinks it is an advantage to have a fuel-stop-strategie, he also has to refuel his car only in the pits at his pitboard.

Backup Your "minrace.lp" in your Hockenhm track folder and copy

Joining the practice session means increasing the safety for the race.

After the start lap You have another single shift_R for the rest of

as we have quite a few non-German drivers in our RSL league I prefer to write the announcement of the 2008 GPL RSL championship in my pure English. More important than a perfect English should be that all members and applicants understand the rules for our races. If someone doesn't understand because he doesn't speak English or because my English is that bad ;D, please feel free to pm me or send me an e-mail.

GPL is meanwhile one of the most versatile and skilling simulations in the scene. The release of the 66 GPL mod is another milestone in racing simulations.
We will have most of our races in 66 Mod combined with 65, 67 and 69 Mod. And this will be a great challenge for the drivers.
We should also use the glorious 69 and 65 mod in our championship because none of them should be forgotten.
The RSL Champion and all other drivers will be Masters of the whole GPL spectrum as we have it today.

Generally our RSL GPLRules stay the same. But the 66 Mod needs some special changes because this remarkable season saw a lot of different engines with different capacities and chassis qualities.
According to these circumstances we will have special reglements for chassis choice, Shift-R and a brand-new RSL Starting Money rule. Don't worry please. Every driver receives RSL-Dollars to spend it for a special issue that, will be explained later.

The Chassis
We will have 2 divisions of cars for the 66 Mod and the actual races will be announced for one of the divisions.
The 3 litre cars of 66 will be division 1 and all other cars of 2-2.7 litres capacity are called division 2.
We believe that it doesn't makes sense to have the team restriction for the whole season if someone in a 2 litre car has to compete against 3 l engines.

All drivers have their free choice to sign up for a team before the championship starts.

The selectable "worksteams" are:

Team Brabham:
65 season = BT11 , BT7
66 season = BT19 (only for division 1 events), BT 11 Climax S4 or BT11 BRM V8 (for division 1 and/or 2 events, free choice)
67 season = BT24
69 season = BT26

Team BRM:
65 season = P261 V8
66 season = P83 H16 (only for division 1), P261 V8 2L (division 1 and/or 2 events, free choice)
67 season = BRM P 115 H16
69 season = BRM P 126/139 V12

Team Cooper:
65 season = Cooper t77
66 season = Cooper Maserati V12 (for division 1 and 2)
67 season = Cooper Maserati V12
69 season = free choice

Team Eagle:
65 season = BT7
66 season = Eagle Weslake V12 T1F (only for division 1), Eagle S4 for division 2 or/and 1 events

65 season = Honda RA272 V12
66 season = Honda RA273 V12 (only for division 1), McLaren V8 Ford for division 2 (looks like the GPL Murasama and fits better to division 2 performances)
67 season = Honda RA300 V12
69 season = Matra MS80 Cosworth V8

Team McLaren:
65 season = Cooper T77 (Bruce 's car in 65)
66 season = McLaren M2B Ford V8 (division 1 and 2)
67 season = McLaren M5A-BRM V12 (Eagle with McLaren skin!)
69 season = McLaren M7 Cosworth V8

Drivers shall choose a team for the whole season because we want to recognize the drivers in their cars and we don't want to have strategic chassis choice for each track layout.

Shift-R rules:

Every driver who takes part in our championship has one
start Shift-R for every race. He has permission to shift-R in the first (start) lap of the race for any reason to get into the race, even if he is involved in trouble during the start procedure or his engine exploded.
If the driver must use the start Shift-R, he is obligated to serve a stop-and-go penalty in the pits exactly at his pitboard position (stopping the car down to 0 km/h and immediately accelerating again to continue racing). This penalty is important to have maximum care for the start procedure.
The start Shift-R can only be used in the lap after green flag for grand prix starts and when we have pacelap starts it can be used for the first quick race lap.

During the rest of the race, drivers have one more Shift-R on the track, but only if the driver can't bring the car safely back to the pits. In the pits Shift-R is free for any reason.

No Shift-R on the track when the engine is exploded. So take care about your shiftings and revs. The only way to repaire your engine is in the pits!!! This means of course, if you suffer an engine failure and you are still able to get back to the pits, it is allowed to shift-R there for a "new engine".

RSL Starting Money
For each race that a driver joins, he earns 1 RSL Dollar after minimum 40% completed laps.
The starting money can be spent for...

...a bonus Shift-R which costs 2 Dollars and can be used for any reason on the track without penalty ! ( Drivers have to confirm to have enough RSL-Dollars before the race. Using an unallowed shift_R leads to DQ!)

... buying a division 1 car in a division 2 race at a cost of 3 RSL- Dollars. ( If a driver wants to spend his starting-money for a 3L car, he has to buy it until one hour before the monday practice begins-latest time= 19:30 CET-. by posting it in the announcement thread for the actual race.)

Fuel strategies

Drivers are also free to have a fuel strategy, if they think it might be more competitive for the race. Fuel stops are only allowed in the pits exactly at the pitboard position to force the driver to pit cleanly.

RSL Safe Pitstop Patch

GPL normally puts the car back on the track if Shift-R is used in the pitlane. Our drivers will get patches for each track to stay in the pits after Shift-R. You will leave the pits on the normal exit to get save back to pace and into the race!
We recommend to install this harmless patch for safety and authenticity during the race and possible pitstops.
Pitting is always to be announced by the drivers using the chat macros PI and PO.

Race length

All races will be 70% of the Grand Prix distances.

Race modifications

There are two kinds of race modifications during our RSL season.

Grand Prix: GP races will be started with a standing grid after green flag.

Race Of Champions: ROC races will be started after a pace lap and after the polesitter spotted "GOGOGO" while he is crossing the S/F line. No overtaking before the S/F line.

as we have quite a few non-German drivers in our RSL league I prefer to write the announcement of the 2008 GPL RSL championship in my pure English. More important than a perfect English should be that all members and applicants understand the rules for our races. If someone doesn't understand because he doesn't speak English or because my English is that bad ;D, please feel free to pm me or send me an e-mail.

GPL is meanwhile one of the most versatile and skilling simulations in the scene. The release of the 66 GPL mod is another milestone in racing simulations.
We will have most of our races in 66 Mod combined with 65, 67 and 69 Mod. And this will be a great challenge for the drivers.
We should also use the glorious 69 and 65 mod in our championship because none of them should be forgotten.
The RSL Champion and all other drivers will be Masters of the whole GPL spectrum as we have it today.

Generally our RSL GPLRules stay the same. But the 66 Mod needs some special changes because this remarkable season saw a lot of different engines with different capacities and chassis qualities.
According to these circumstances we will have special reglements for chassis choice, Shift-R and a brand-new RSL Starting Money rule. Don't worry please. Every driver receives RSL-Dollars to spend it for a special issue that, will be explained later.

The Chassis
We will have 2 divisions of cars for the 66 Mod and the actual races will be announced for one of the divisions.
The 3 litre cars of 66 will be division 1 and all other cars of 2-2.7 litres capacity are called division 2.
We believe that it doesn't makes sense to have the team restriction for the whole season if someone in a 2 litre car has to compete against 3 l engines.

All drivers have their free choice to sign up for a team before the championship starts.

The selectable "worksteams" are:

Team Brabham:
65 season = BT11 , BT7
66 season = BT19 (only for division 1 events), BT 11 Climax S4 or BT11 BRM V8 (for division 1 and/or 2 events, free choice)
67 season = BT24
69 season = BT26

Team BRM:
65 season = P261 V8
66 season = P83 H16 (only for division 1), P261 V8 2L (division 1 and/or 2 events, free choice)
67 season = BRM P 115 H16
69 season = BRM P 126/139 V12

Team Cooper:
65 season = Cooper t77
66 season = Cooper Maserati V12 (for division 1 and 2)
67 season = Cooper Maserati V12
69 season = free choice

Team Eagle:
65 season = BT7
66 season = Eagle Weslake V12 T1F (only for division 1), Eagle S4 for division 2 or/and 1 events
67 season = Eagle Weslake V12 T1G
69 season = McLaren M7 V8

Team Scuderia Ferrari
65 season = Ferrari 1512
66 season = Ferrari 312 V12 (only for division 1), Ferrari 246 V6 (division 1 and 2, free choice)
67 season = Ferrari 312 V12

Team Lotus:
65 season = Lotus 33
66 season = Lotus 43 H16 (only for division 1), Lotus 33 Climax, Lotus 33 BRM (division 1 and 2, free choice)
67 season = Lotus 49 Cosworth V8
69 season = Lotus 49b Cosworth V8

Team Honda:
65 season = Honda RA272 V12
66 season = Honda RA273 V12 (only for division 1), McLaren V8 Ford for division 2 (looks like the GPL Murasama and fits better to division 2 performances)
67 season = Honda RA300 V12
69 season = Matra MS80 Cosworth V8

Team McLaren:
65 season = Cooper T77 (Bruce 's car in 65)
66 season = McLaren M2B Ford V8 (division 1 and 2)
67 season = McLaren M5A-BRM V12 (Eagle with McLaren skin!)
69 season = McLaren M7 Cosworth V8

Drivers shall choose a team for the whole season because we want to recognize the drivers in their cars and we don't want to have strategic chassis choice for each track layout.

Shift-R rules:

Every driver who takes part in our championship has one
start Shift-R for every race. He has permission to shift-R in the first (start) lap of the race for any reason to get into the race, even if he is involved in trouble during the start procedure or his engine exploded.
If the driver must use the start Shift-R, he is obligated to serve a stop-and-go penalty in the pits exactly at his pitboard position (stopping the car down to 0 km/h and immediately accelerating again to continue racing). This penalty is important to have maximum care for the start procedure.
The start Shift-R can only be used in the lap after green flag for grand prix starts and when we have pacelap starts it can be used for the first quick race lap.

During the rest of the race, drivers have one more Shift-R on the track, but only if the driver can't bring the car safely back to the pits. In the pits Shift-R is free for any reason.

No Shift-R on the track when the engine is exploded. So take care about your shiftings and revs. The only way to repaire your engine is in the pits!!! This means of course, if you suffer an engine failure and you are still able to get back to the pits, it is allowed to shift-R there for a "new engine".

RSL Starting Money
For each race that a driver joins, he earns 1 RSL Dollar after minimum 40% completed laps.
The starting money can be spent for...

...a bonus Shift-R which costs 2 Dollars and can be used for any reason on the track without penalty ! ( Drivers have to confirm to have enough RSL-Dollars before the race. Using an unallowed shift_R leads to DQ!)

... buying a division 1 car in a division 2 race at a cost of 3 RSL- Dollars. ( If a driver wants to spend his starting-money for a 3L car, he has to buy it until one hour before the monday practice begins-latest time= 19:30 CET-. by posting it in the announcement thread for the actual race.)

Fuel strategies

Drivers are also free to have a fuel strategy, if they think it might be more competitive for the race. Fuel stops are only allowed in the pits exactly at the pitboard position to force the driver to pit cleanly.

RSL Safe Pitstop Patch

GPL normally puts the car back on the track if Shift-R is used in the pitlane. Our drivers will get patches for each track to stay in the pits after Shift-R. You will leave the pits on the normal exit to get save back to pace and into the race!
We recommend to install this harmless patch for safety and authenticity during the race and possible pitstops.
Pitting is always to be announced by the drivers using the chat macros PI and PO.

Race length

All races will be 70% of the Grand Prix distances.

Race modifications

There are two kinds of race modifications during our RSL season.

Grand Prix: GP races will be started with a standing grid after green flag.

Race Of Champions: ROC races will be started after a pace lap and after the polesitter spotted "GOGOGO" while he is crossing the S/F line. No overtaking before the S/F line.

Venues (We start Qualifying at CET 20:30, race start 21:00)

Official Training: Monday of the same week (presence of the drivers recommended)

Paul hat mir soeben geschrieben , dass es scheint als sei das freezen gel?st, man fragt aber nach, ob wir einen Test ?ber ein l?ngeres Rennen machen k?nnen.

Wir sind mit vielen Fahrern bereits gut auf Montjuich vorbereitet und sollten den 69er Mod wieder nehmen.

Ich denke , dass 40 Runden reichen werden um die online Stabilit?t zu erkennen und m?chte sp?testens den 14. Nov und/oder den 12. Nov vorschlagen jeweils 21:00.
Der 14te w?re ein Mittwoch also unser "normaler" Renntag.

Alle Fahrer , die Spass h?tten sich zu beteiligen, m?chten sich bitte hier melden.

Das am 7.11.07 anstehende letzte Rennen der Saison 2007 soll durch das Voting der RSL Mitglieder erfolgen.

Das Rennen ist als der einmal j?hrliche Grand Prix bei RSL ausgeschrieben.

Zur Entscheidung offen stehen zun?chst :

1) Welcher Mod soll gefahren werden ?

2) Welche Strecke soll gefahren werden ?

Das Angebot an Strecken und Jahrgangskombinationen bei GPL ist bekanntlich fast un?berschaubar.
Zur Orientierung h?tte ich aber folgenden Vorschlag:

Vorausstellen m?chte ich unser Motto bei RSL.
Rennwagen und Strecken, die zu Legenden geworden sind.
Warum dann nicht auch Orientierung bei der Wahl der Strecke an
legend?ren Rennen in der Formel 1 Geschichte.
Nehmen wir zum Beispiel den Lauf in Monza 1967, eines der faszinierendsten Rennen der Formel-1-Geschichte, in dem Jim Clark sein Meisterst?ck "abgab", dennoch in der letzten Runde mit trockenem Tank die schwer erk?mpfte F?hrung (nachdem Clark eine Runde R?ckstand aufholen musste!) an die Kampfh?hne Brabham und Surtees abgeben musste und es zwischen den beiden zum engsten Zieleinlauf der Geschichte kam.
Man k?nnte also vorschlagen Monza im 67er zu fahren, um an dieses legend?re Rennen anzukn?pfen.

Sicher fallen Euch noch andere tolle Rennen ein, die man mit den M?glichkeiten von GPL als Inspiration f?r unser Trackvoting nutzen kann. Gleichzeitig bringt die Besch?ftigung mit der Suche nach Highlights in der Formel 1 der Jahre 65,67 und 69 sicher ein wenig Spass, erst recht dann , wenn wir es anschlie?end gemeinsam virtuell umsetzen werden.

Bitte gebt Eure Ideen kurzfristig, sagen wir bis Donnerstag, den 1.11.2007, 18:00Uhr, hier im Thread zum Besten, damit wir rechtzeitig zum n?chsten WE ?ber die Vorschl?ge abstimmen k?nnen.

as you might know, we do a full GP race at RSL once a year (07.11.2007)

As this is quite a challenge to all of us, we at least want to accomodate this a bit by letting you choose
1. the track at wich we will take this ultimate challenge (ok, ultimate besides an online 24 hours race, of course ).
2. the mod you prefer.

Since our dedication at RSL are the cars and races that have become legendary, a good example for the race to come could be the F1 race at Monza in 1967, one of the most exciting races in F1 history, where Clark accomplished his 'masterpiece' by taking the lead after making up for a complete lap, but in the end ran out of fuel and had to let go Brabham und Surtees, who in turn produced the closest finish ever.
So one might propose Monza in the 67 Mod (Please remember that this is just an example.)

Maybe you can think of other events of that kind that we could try to convert into a nice online race for us.
But you dont have to stick to this, this is just our idea. It is ok if you prefer a certain track or mod for completely different reasons :)

Please post your preferred track and mod in this thread until 01.11.2007, so that we can issue the actual voting then.

Hello dear drivers ,

we will have the race tonight at Montjuich Park
over 54 laps including the pacelap.
Please remember that the pacelap is there to
warm up the engine and tires what will prevent early engine failures and a more safe flying start .
The polesitter will hold the field together until the last corner before the starting line. He will be prepaired to send the chat message GOGOGO
when he crosses the S/F line.
This will start the competition, so please be concentrated.
Our race over 54 laps will be long enough, so you need not want to win in the first lap.

We will watch T1 "el Angulo" in lap one .

If there is a crash in the first quick lap you can use your "start-shiftR" for any reason.
But every driver should take care about the start, because if you use the "start shiftR", you must make a zero length "Stop-and-Go" in the pits as soon as you reach the pits again.
You have one more shiftR without penalty for the rest of the race on (!) the track , but only if your car is damaged or you stick in the fence .
Engines may not (!) be repaired on the track.
Only in the pits !!!

Hello dear drivers ,

we will have the race tonight at Montjuich Park
over 54 laps including the pacelap.
Please remember that the pacelap is there to
warm up the engine and tires what will prevent early engine failures and a more safe flying start .
The polesitter will hold the field together until the last corner before the starting line. He will be prepaired to send the chat message GOGOGO
when he crosses the S/F line.
This will start the competition, so please be concentrated.
Our race over 54 laps will be long enough, so you need not want to win in the first lap.

We will watch T1 "el Angulo" in lap one .

If there is a crash in the first quick lap you can use your "start-shiftR" for any reason.
But every driver should take care about the start, because if you use the "start shiftR", you must make a zero length "Stop-and-Go" in the pits as soon as you reach the pits again.
You have one more shiftR without penalty for the rest of the race on (!) the track , but only if your car is damaged or you stick in the fence .
Engines may not (!) be repaired on the track.
